  Message from the President

Greetings of the season.

May this season of festival of lights brighten up our lives, bring prosperity and new knowledge and zeal to our profession.

The 8th annual IAS conference at Ahmedabad was superbly organised under the able leadership of Dr. Nishith Shah and his team. We congratulate them for this great effort which was appreciated by all the delegates, the industry and even the foreign faculty who had words of praise for the same I have had the opportunity to serve our association in various capacities- as a member, secretary/treasurer, editor ( for over a decade) and Vice President. Now I am honoured to be your President for the term 2009-2011 and I am grateful to you for your confidence reposed in me.

Our great Association has achieved its silver jubilee milestone. To commemorate this event, the Executive committee has decided to have a special oration at the next annual meeting.

I strongly believe we need to bring arthroscopy to the peripheral areas in the form of camps and workshops. I would be willing to do anything to make this happen with your cooperation to identify areas where it can be done. Talking to friends who had programs with the SARC countries and are very involved, there is also a need to collaborate with them and try our best to spread arthroscopy in these areas. Hopefully the ISAKOS can be approached to help and I feel the ISAKOS would be keen to cooperate in these areas of spreading education. Our dynamic secretary Dr.Parag Sancheti, has already sent you the circular urging you to become members of ISAKOS and the advantages you can enjoy because of this fellowship. I am sure you will definitely take this great opportunity as a first priority and become member of ISAKOS.

The success of any meeting should be judged from its scientific contents and not necessarily from the food and hospitality alone. I have asked members of the executive committee to draw some guidelines which would be used as a protocol for the future meetings.
The strength of the number of our members is rising and we need to compile the latest directory of our members.

The cadaveric workshops in Delhi are doing well under the leadership of our past enthusiastic secretary Dr.I PS Oberoi, but the Mumbai centre was temporarily at a standstill due to renovations in the anatomy hall at the Seth GS Medical College. Now that these renovations are complete we have permission from the authorities concerned to go ahead with our workshops and we shall soon announce the workshop dates.
I have also requested some senior members to write a “white paper” on common problems like ACL,PCL, MENISCUS, INSTABILITY OF SHOULDER etc management, so that the members will have uniform guidelines in management of these problems. We shall be able to put them on the website next soon.
I shall be grateful for your inputs as members of the association. I believe every member has a role to play in the association to raise it to great heights and I would say "Yes, together we can do it"
