Dear Colleague,

On behalf of the organising committee, we heartily invite you to the land of Mahatma Gandhi and the vibrant city called Ahmedabad for 8th annual meeting of Indian arthroscopy society (IAS 2009). It is our honour to be the host of this meeting and shall make all honest and serious efforts to make it a success in all the ways.

The scientific content of the conference will be very informative and useful to all the doctors having interest in arthroscopy and sports medicine. We will have variety of pre-conference workshops on 1st October on different subjects; one of them is on Articular Cartilage. This type of workshop will be organised for the first time in India. We all know that articular cartilage injuries are extremely common and are difficult to treat, especially larger defects. We are fortunate to have Dr. Laszlo Hangody, inventor of mosaicplasty and Dr. Max Britberg, one of the leading authorities on articular cartilage implantation surgery as faculty for this workshop. Pre-conference workshops will be followed by the conference with orations, plenary sessions, debates and video presentations. For younger researchers and experienced clinicians, it will serve as an ideal platform for presenting their clinical papers.

We are expecting delegates, not only from India, but also from Middle East, South east and far Eastern countries of Asia. We intend to make it a biggest event in the field of arthroscopy in this part of world.

We would like to make your stay in Ahmedabad as a memorable experience. The people of Gujarat are known for their hospitality and the city itself is a well-known for many historic sites, like Sidi Saiyad mosque, Zhulta Minara (Shaking towers), Sarkhej Roja & famous poles (living quarters in old city). The Conference will be held at world renowned Indian Institute of Management (IIMA). Few kms. away from Ahmedabad, you will find exotic places like Gir Sanctuary (only place in Asia where Asiatic Lions live), Dasada (sanctuary for Wild asses) and Mount Abu etc. The city of Ahmedabad has cosmopolitan culture with modern facilities. The weather in month of October will be pleasant and temperature will be ranging from 25°c to 30° C.

We will make sure that the spouse and the children get ample activities to keep themselves happily engaged. They would love to explore the city and go for shopping for which Ahmedabad is famous for.
